"Novy," study of a child, 1892

"Novy" was a nickname given to Louis P. Clark (1889-1958), the son of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Davida Johnson Clark. His mother was Saint-Gaudens’ mistress and the model for Diana and Amor Caritas. The boy was named for his uncle, Louis St. Gaudens, who, together with his wife, Annetta, had a close relationship with the child.
