Augustus Saint-Gaudens, 1904 George T. Brewster (1862-1943) was born in Kingston, Massachusetts in 1862; he studied at the Massachusetts State Normal Art School and the École des Beaux-Arts. He taught the first modeling class at the Art Students League in New York City in 1886, a position Saint-Gaudens assumed two years later. In 1904 he completed a group of eleven medallions of artists for the exterior of the Palace of Art in St. Louis, Missouri, now the St. Louis Art Museum. One of these was the head of Saint-Gaudens.
