King Family Tomb, 1877-78 This collaborative work, for which Saint-Gaudens worked with painter John La Farge, was commissioned by Mary Augusta Le Roy King, widow of Edward King, in June 1877. Saint-Gaudens completed the plaster model in his Paris studio. It was carved by a stone cutter in Paris, shipped to the United States, and installed in a Newport, Rhode Island, cemetery in 1878. |
