Following the close of the exhibition, Augusta Saint-Gaudens installed
some of the very large plasters in the Cornish "Studio of the Caryatids." In
1913, she opened the studios to the public, and in 1919, Augusta and other
Cornish-area friends of the sculptor organized the Saint-Gaudens Memorial,
to preserve the estate as an historic site and museum.
Augusta Saint-Gaudens died in 1926. From 1927 until World War II¸ the Memorial was directed by Homer Saint-Gaudens. |
