Program for "A Masque of Ours," hand-illustrated
by the Cornish Colony artists, private collection

The prologue to "A Masque of 'Ours'" was written by the known poet and dramatist, Percy MacKaye. The script for the masque itself was written by Louis Evan Shipman, with additions by other Cornish Colony members. It was very light in nature and included much nonsense and many local allusions. The cast included members of the Cornish Colony, townspeople, and children. The music, written and conducted by Arthur Whiting, was performed by the Kneisel Quartet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The masque concerns Jupiter's desire to resign as leader of the gods. All gather for a meeting to decide Jupiter's successor. Neptune and Pluto both want the position, so Minerva must choose who will rule next.  She seeks the answer in a golden bowl, declaring Augustus Saint-Gaudens to be the worthy one.
