James W. Finn Caricature, 1904 Born in Giverny, France, James Wall Finn (died 1913) was an American painter especially known for his murals. His official recognition as a painter included receiving honorable mention at the 1896 Paris salon and the bronze medal at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, in 1901. A friend of Saint-Gaudens, Finn visited the sculptor in Cornish, where he and Saint-Gaudens frequently golfed together. This caricature commemorates Finn's return to New York after his honeymoon in Europe. |
