Caricatures Saint-Gaudens often
delighted his friends with caricatures. Many were
pencil sketches of Saint-Gaudens himself, and exhibit a self-deprecating

his name on personal correspondence with a caricature of his own profile.
Other caricatures, rendered on paper or in clay, captured the character
of friends and family members.
