Davida Johnson Clark, study for the head of Diana, 1886 Davida Johnson Clark (1869-1910) was an artist’s model who posed for Augustus Saint-Gaudens and later became his mistress and the mother of their son Louis. This bust served as a study not only for the Diana head but also for the Amor Caritas. Born in Sweden, she immigrated to New York as a child. Her real name was purportedly Albertina Hultgren. Saint-Gaudens was said to have given her the name Davida.
